As some of you will go on to be healthcare providers as either PT’s, OT’s, or AT

As some of you will go on to be healthcare providers as either PT’s, OT’s, or AT’s; or physical fitness experts, you will need to stay current on a scientific basis for practice and training. I have reiterated multiple times throughout this semester how important it is for you to use scientific literature correctly and not to apply treatments or trainings haphazardly. You will finish this semester with a 100 point semester narrative to begin to practice how to use scientific literature to support or refute a treatment, exam, training or any other entity within your profession. Below you will find the requirements for each narrative. I have also attached a rubric on how these narratives will be graded. Remember when the due date is and do not wait until the very end of the semester to complete this assignment. You may also pull from a topic that we may have skipped or from one that we have not quite gotten to yet based on when you would like to complete this assignment. Be ready to share your narrative on the due date; we will discuss various topics in class. Good luck!
500 words/1 page single spaced
The study MUST have been conducted within the last 20 years; NO STUDIES BEFORE 2002
Take any topic we have discussed this semester; so look at each chapter and pick any heading discussed during classes
Find a relatable Peer-reviewed scientific evidenced based article; NO MAGAZIINES OR ONLINE FITNESS ARTICLES….If you use these, you will receive a 0 for the assignment
Please do not use a meta-analysis or systematic review.
Discuss the overall premise of the article/What was the research question? What were the researchers attempting to support or refute? Why was the study done?
Describe the methods
Report the results
Give an educated assessment of how you think the study was conducted and if you think the results are valid and WHY
End your narrative stating how reading the article may have changed your previously thought information about the topic
Please use the American Medical Association (AMA) citations throughout and properly give credit to the authors of the paper
