Students who take this course typically are planning to enter the field of aviation once they graduate. To better prepare them for those fields, WMU has established AVS 3040 Aviation Safety and Security as a required course for aviation degrees. Obviously, as the course title indicates, this class focuses on the safety and security aspect of the aviation industry. But how does that tie into your future career choices?
This Final Project Paper requires you to gather applicable information from the weekly assignments and other sources throughout the semester. As a hint, you will particularly find helpful information from the paper on training/certifications and knowledge of Code of Federal Air Regulations.
This paper must be done in APA format and be a minimum of seven pages long, not counting the Title Page, Abstract or Reference pages. This paper needs to be written in paragraph format, not just bullet points or items which are numbered.
For your final project paper, you will be mapping your future. To start, I want you to find a job posting for an entry level airport position you are interested in. Then find someone to interview that you know who currently holds or previously held this position.
Things that need to be incorporated in this section include but are not limited to:
Who you interviewed along with their contact information
Explain the position description and requirements.
Explain what you would be doing on a typical day.
Explain how you would go about obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify and perform these responsibilities.
Explain the safety role this position holds towards protecting passengers, coworkers and civilians.
Next, locate a job posting for an airport position you are interested in advancing to. Then find someone to interview that you know who currently holds or previously held this position.
Things that need to be incorporated in this section include but are not limited to:

Explain what you would be doing on a typical day.

You have been so great in class that your teacher has arranged to send you to your own private island. The only catch is that your teacher’s boat is so big that it takes ten years to fuel up. So you will be on the island all by yourself for 10 years. The island is covered with vegetation; however, there is no animal life. The soil is good for farming and the region has warm temperatures with a high rate of annual rainfall. Describe what animal & plant life you will bring with you and why. common problems experienced, a review of inadvertent gear up landing accidents/incidents, and
the psychological aspects of preventing gear up landings. The paper should address the various
lessons learned from previous such incidents, and address what measures (procedural,
technological, etc.) should be adopted to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The style required for formatting the paper is American Psychological Association (APA), 7 th
edition, guidelines. The paper will be graded on accuracy and completeness of information,
cohesiveness, spelling and grammar, and number and quality of references. The paper should be
a minimum of 5 pages of content (typewritten, double-spaced, one inch margins, and no larger
than 12 point font). A minimum of 5 quality references, appropriately cited in the text and
appropriately listed on a reference page, should be used. In addition to the 5 pages of content, a
title page and a reference list are also required.

Amazing support throughout the whole process.

I would like to thank my family — my beautiful wife, Clare, and my five children, Emily, Carter,
Cohen, Brady, and Mason — for all of the encouragement and tolerance while I spent a year and a
half of my life writing this book. My brothers, sister, Mom, Dad, and Paulette have also given me a
