The type of ePortfolio you create depends on your particular purpose and audience. An ePortfolio might emphasize development and reflection, showing process in the form of drafts, revisions, and polished work. Or, the materials may illuminate “best work.” The former is more common in academic contexts that focus on student learning; whereas, the latter targets potential employers or public audiences for professional purposes.
This assignment will familiarize you with creating content for the web and allow you to practice presenting yourself in a professional context. Students may use a free web content creator such as Weebly.com, Wix.com, or WordPress.com. For student familiarity with HTML or CSS, you may construct your website using Dreamweaver, Google Web Designer, or other web management software.
If you are less familiar with designing and publishing to the Internet, Weebly may be a more suitable platform. If you are confident with online designing, try Wix. However, some students see Wix as more user friendly.
While Wix and Weebly are both free, you will receive emails from both companies and some features in the design screen cost extra. Note that ePortfolio assignments do not need premium content. Therefore, there is no need to purchase anything for your websites. Students are also strongly discouraged from connecting to Facebook or using your Facebook login credentials when first creating your any account.
Purpose: Your purpose is to create a professional website that will showcase selected work from ENC 1102 and other selected courses. For this project, you will showcase your best work for a public, professional audience. In ENC 1102, a first-year Composition course that introduces public writing and research, your ePortfolio serves as a semester-long project that documents your writing process and development and showcases your final, edited work. Think of the ePortfolio as the final exam for the course, showing both cumulative knowledge and final proficiency. Your ePortfolio demonstrates your best work as a writer as you move through invention, drafting, revision, and editing to produce final project(s) ready for public delivery. The ePortfolio also shows your emergence as a professional, embarking on university learning and entering an academic discipline. Genre: You will be creating an ePortfolio specifically designed to be presented in a professional setting of your choosing.
Audience The primary audience for your site will be those hiring within your desired profession. Remember, though, that when you create content for the web it is public, and can be seen by anyone. See me if you require or want more privacy as the assignment can be adjusted for such needs.
Requirements: In an online website platform, you will create a website-based ePortfolio that identifies and introduces who you are as an emerging professional. We will work together to set up and design your site, and to prepare your final materials for public-audience delivery. Format: Each one should be a separate page within your ePortfolio.
Homepage/About the author page: This introduction statement should serve as a lead-in to your portfolio where you can explain what themes (if any) can be found in the work and possibly provide a brief inventory of the works included, and reflect on the process of assembling your portfolio. Your introduction should be about two paragraphs long, but it is going to set up the argument or reflection of your portfolio. Some questions to consider while writing your introduction:What are you doing here?
Why are you doing it?
What does it matter?
What is the issue or topic you are presenting?
Note: You can be creative with your writing here. This is your introduction to your work where your reader will get to know you before they embark on your work. You can add images, to enhance your textual information, too. “Authoring” is a term describing writing for the Internet. Authoring and designing webpages should include images and separate design elements with “whitespace.” Whitespace helps the eye move from one feature (text or visual) to another while helping your eyes rest. The same holds true for the colors you choose.
Reflective analyses about the posted work:The ePortfolio Reflection is a form of dialogue that you have not only with yourself as a writer but also with your audience. The reflection serves as a means of self-assessment and allows you the opportunity to think critically about your learning and writing process. You will turn in the reflection as a word document – that is separate from the ePortfolio. In approximately 800 words, address the following questions in any order. You may go beyond these questions as well. Process and ProductionIntroduce the contents of your ePortfolio, and explain the process of making the project. What story does your portfolio convey?
What did you accomplish and discover from the semester-long writing and researching? What technology skills have you learned? Audience Who is your target academic audience? Who are other professional audiences? How do you engage and reach your audiences? Where might you circulate your ePortfolio? Self-Knowledge & Self-Assessment What did you learn about yourself as a writer? What did you learn about academic writing? What are the strengths of your ePortfolio project? By answering the questions and critically analyzing the contents of your ePortfolio, you will successfully meet the criteria for the reflection. To situate your own author ethos, this piece of writing should be clearly communicated and contain polished writing. Final, Revised project from ENC 1102 Writing sample from other college classes By the end of the semester, you will already have completed most of the above bulleted items. Also, some of the required ePortfolio components will be graded by the time you compile your materials. In line with public, online writing, we will learn and practice the conventions of website style. For example, I will ask that you embed your work on the page rather than include a file that readers must download.
I created a sample portfolio so that you can get an idea of what they will look like. Remember, mine is a work in progress that I have created simply as an example, so it will not look exactly like yours: https://mrsmunsell.weebly.com (Links to an external site.).
Paper Length: Follow the format for your ePortfolio. Your reflection, which you will also turn in separately, will be approximately 800 words.

Scenario 1:
Maria is a 13-year-old biracial student whose mother is Hispanic and father is African-American. Maria’s father transferred towns for work, which uprooted the family midyear from a large city to a small, rural town. Maria’s new school, much like the community, is predominately white and middle class. The move has resulted in her parents fighting a lot, making her home life very stressful.
Additionally, students at her new school dress much differently than students at her old school, which makes Maria stand out. Some of the other students make fun of the way she dresses. She just discovered a social media group called “I Hate Maria” composed of some of her seventh-grade classmates, who have been posting negative comments about her. Recently, students at Maria’s school took cell phone photographs of her buttocks while she was walking in the hall and posted them on the “I Hate Maria” website.
Maria has tried to tell her parents about the bullying at school, but they tell her she is being too sensitive. With all of the stress, Maria is plagued by dark thoughts of killing herself and cannot focus on the lessons being taught in her classes. A. Summarize the social context described in the scenario, including the following:
Maria’s family
Maria’s community
Maria’s cultural background
B. Discuss how you, as a teacher, would try to help Maria in a culturally responsive, trauma-informed way by doing the following:
1. Describe a realistic action you would take to help Maria with one or more of the issues she is facing.
a. Justify how the action from part B1 would effectively address the issue or issues from part B1 in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed way, including specific examples.
2. Discuss how you would involve Maria’s family in this action.
C. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized
Scenario 2:
Denise, an eighth-grade student aged 14, was diagnosed with a learning disability in the area of reading when she was in the second grade. She has struggled in school academically and socially. As a young child, she was molested by a friend of her father over the course of two years. Her parents divorced after she told them about this. Denise has been having romantic thoughts about other girls and recently told her parents that she is a lesbian. Her father was accepting of the news, but her mother has rejected Denise based on her religious faith. Denise’s mother is pushing Denise to attend church to “fix” her thoughts and feelings. Denise has begun to do self-harm through cutting. She has attempted suicide twice.
While at school, Denise tends to withdraw and refuses to participate in class. She currently is not passing any of her classes and is in danger of retention. Denise struggles with relationships with other students and staff at school. She has tried to seek out relationships with other female students only to be rejected. She misinterprets any compassion or concern from female adults, leading Denise to believe she has romantic feelings for the adult.
A. Identify your chosen scenario, and describe two issues the student in that scenario is encountering.
B. Discuss how you would appropriately respond to the issues identified in part A by doing the following:
1. Describe how, as a teacher, you could respond to and address the issues in a sensitive, culturally responsive way.
2. Explain one relevant legal obligation and one relevant privacy concern that must be considered as you respond to the identified issues.
3. Describe relevant strategies for collaborating with the student’s caregivers to address the identified issues.
a. Justify your chosen strategies and why they would be effective.
4. Identify additional stakeholders, and explain why they should be involved in addressing the identified issues.
C. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized. Scenario 3: A. Identify the hypothetical scenario (STUDENT SUICIDE) you selected and explain the context, including each of the following:
what happened
who was involved
examples of the impact on the community
examples of how the situation impacts students at home
examples of how the situation impacts students at school
B. Describe a strategy you would use to help students cope with the scenario from part A.
1. Justify why your strategy would be effective in helping students cope with the scenario at school and at home.
2. Explain one anticipated challenge you might encounter as you implement this strategy in your classroom.
3. Explain how you will overcome this challenge. Include specific examples to support your explanation.
C. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

In 400-500 words: Circling back to Chapter 1, identifying your end game vision, has that vision changed in the last 3 months? Construct an overall wellness plan, which includes short-term goals for your mental health, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, nutrition, and weight control. What weekly and monthly markers need to be reached? These measurable objectives will put you on a trajectory toward your end-game vision.
What was written in chapter 1 as my end-game vision:
Health and wellness are essential because they help me maintain a healthy balance in my life. I ensure regular exercise, eat a nutritious diet, and getting enough sleep. Training is essential because it helps me stay physically fit and strong. I make sure to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, whether going for a run, lifting weights, or playing a sport. Eating a nutritious diet is also essential because it helps me stay healthy and energized. I make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and limit my intake of processed foods and sugary drinks. Getting enough sleep is crucial because it helps me feel rested and rejuvenated. I typically get seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Finally, taking time for myself to relax and de-stress is crucial because it helps me to stay calm and focused.
At 75, I envision my physical health to be excellent. I will be physically healthy and still be able to do everything I enjoy, like hiking and gardening. I will be independent and able to care for myself without needing help from others. I will continue to exercise regularly and stay active, which will help me stay healthy and mobile. I may need to take cholesterol or blood pressure medication, but I can manage these conditions without seeing a doctor regularly. For example, I will keep my cholesterol in check by eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. I can monitor my blood pressure at home using a simple device such as a sphygmomanometer. According to Tao et al. (2019), a sphygmomanometer device is a small, portable device that I can use to check my blood pressure at any time.
